June 20th-June 30th

Oh life just keeps getting better and better. Now this past weekend Maricela and I took off (keeping up the usual pace) We traveled to Armenia which is about a three hour bus ride away. We stayed at her friend Glodia's place for the night. After a night of misbehaving we crash and wake up to her wonderful dog constantly barking. Seriously I have roosters every morning at home and instead this time we had a dog, a spazz of an awesome mutt who does not understand shut up. haha

My Life for the summer

After Breakfast we take off in this little bus to Solento.  This is an example of the small buses I have been talking about. the drive was short. We make It to a small little town that's surrounded by some of the most spectacular views I have ever seen.  The center of the town sits on top of a mountain that looks cut in half with the rest of the mountains surrounding it entirely.

The best friend you could ever ask for

We wander around town for a little bit to find a hostel. We decide on a place called tralala ? Or something like that. We slept in the dorms with some people from Israel, New York and Poland.
It stayed cloudy for the rest of the evening and of course at night we went out and explored what the town had to offer. It was very full because of this past Monday was a holiday for Colombia.

The next day brought warm sun and a breeze. It was beautiful out between 75-85 degrees with a breeze! PERFECT

We spent most of the morning reminiscing about our night and laughing at just about every story that came out of our mouth.

Good Bye Hostel hello Town!

After a Breakfast of chicken and potatoes :)

How Colombian can you get ?

After walking around town we head towards the highest part of the town that was easy to walk to.
It' s amazing. A beautiful terrace is up top looking at the canyon.

This is a video...

Ok so if you look closely in the photo you can see a white line going down the center. That's a river and we hiked our way down the mountain we were standing on. The trail was formed from the rain and the walk took about an hour and half but we were determined for some swimming. . .

Rambo 2011

We finally make it to a spot.

Got to love that I used mud as sun block because I left mine at the hostel !

Packed up and ready to get back to town!
After a much much needed dip in the freezing water we start to hike back up the mountain and it
wasn't going to be fun so of course we thumbed & walked. We find this giant birds nest while walking back up the mountain it was a great sight to see.

Eventually we do get picked up and we get to ride up the entire mountain side sitting on the back of a woman's pick up truck just holding on to whatever. . . .

I have an awesome video of me riding in the back of the pick up truck but blogger will not let me upload it I have tried many times. To bad !

We get to the top of the town and feast on the fruit this wonderful country has to offer.

We finally get back to Glodia's house and no I am not sunburnt at all ! haha

It's been a great trip so far! I miss home sometimes ! but I only have a little over 40 days to go in Colombia and I am going to make the best of it. I am a week behind with the blog. . . . so another weekend trip should be coming soon .

Happy fourth everybody, miss you K, Mom and just about everyone else

 Love Patrick & Maricela
